The Lead Member for Learning and School Effectiveness considered a report by the Director of Children’s Services which sought approval to lower the age range at four primary schools within East Sussex to enable nursery provision for two to four year olds on their sites. The local member for All Saints Church of England Primary School, Councillor Michael Ensor spoke on this item.

DECISION

36.1     RESOLVED to (1) approve lowering the age range at All Saints CE Primary School, East Hoathly CE Primary School and Polegate School from 4-11 to 2-11, with effect from 1 May 2015; and

                                     (2) approve lowering the age range at St Paul’s CE Primary School from 4-11 to 2-11, with effect from 1 September 2015.

Reasons

36.2     Lowering the age range at the four primary schools will enable each school to establish early year’s provision for two to four year olds on their sites and enable the Council to meet its statutory requirement to ensure a sufficient supply of early years places in areas of identified demand.
