To allow SGN to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily restrict all traffic using the following length of road to a speed not exceeding 30 mph:

Temporary 30 mph Speed Limit
Battle Road - from the junction with A2100 Beauport Park Roundabout to the junction with A2100 Hastings Road.

The speed restriction is anticipated to be in place between 16 May & 21 December 2025.

The Order commences 16 May 2025 and is made following the issuing of a Temporary Notice dated 4 April 2025 and a Temporary Successive Notice dated 25 April 2025 under the relevant sections of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier.

To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following lengths of road;

Temporary Road Closures
Eastbourne Road - from the junction with P5646 Chyngton Lane North to the junction with C120 Littlington Road.

East Dean Road - from the junction with C120 Littlington Road eastwards for 1200 metres.

Eastbourne Road / East Dean Road - from the junction with C37 Gilberts Drive to the junction with B2103 Warren Hill Road.

To allow UKPN to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure
Curtains Hill / The Toll - from the junction with A272 Pound Green to the junction with A272 Main Road.

To allow UKPN to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure
Layby Old A22 - from the junction with A22 Eastbourne Road to the junction with U7403 Bradfords Lane.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via A22 Eastbourne Road - U7403 Bradfords Lane and vice versa.

The Order commenced 13 January 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 16 May & 1 September 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

The Order commences 12 May 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken from 20:00hrs to 06:00hrs on 12 & 13 May 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via A22 Golden Cross, The Dicker, Boship roundabout, Hailsham bypass, Diplocks roundabout, Hailsham bypass, Arlington Eagles roundabout, Polegate Road, Hailsham Road – A22(T) Cop Hall roundabout, Eastbourne Road – A27(T) Lewes Road, Eastbourne Road, Beddingham roundabout, Ranscombe Hill, Southerham roundabout – A26 Southerham Road, Cuilfail Tunnel, Cuilfail Tunnel roundabout, Malling Street, Malling Hill, Malling Down, Uckfield Road, Rose Hill, Lewes Road and vice versa.

Whilst the resource levels have already been approved, a change to the neutral vendor enables obtaining a more cost effective procurement route. The resources contracts finish at the end of April and the new contracts need to be in place for the Oracle Implementation Programme to continue seamlessly.

Award of contract for the 2025/26 resource envelope, required to deliver the Oracle Programme.

East Hoathly Bypass / South Street – from the junction with A22 The Shaw Roundabout to the junction with C13 Park Lane.

The Order commences 6 May 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until the works are completed, whichever is the earlier. However, it is anticipated the speed restriction will be in place from 20:00hrs to 04:00hrs between 6 & 9 May 2025.

The Government, through the Department for Education (DfE), wishes to devolve skills funding, previously commissioned nationally, to Upper Tier local authorities to manage at a place-based level. As a result, East Sussex County Council has been awarded a total annual funding amount of £2,358,050.00 to deliver Skills Bootcamps. These are flexible short vocational courses designed to improve the skills of the workforce in
key sectors, offered to adults aged 19 and over.

In East Sussex, there are known skills gaps in construction, engineering, green jobs, adult social care, the visitor economy, the land-based and food production sector and in digital skills and leadership and management across all sectors. The Council needs to ensure that local businesses and providers have the workforce that can enable them to meet forthcoming pressures in line with new Government policy (i.e. early years childcare provision, teaching, green energy and the industrial strategy).

The Council has designed a call for Bootcamp provision to meet identified skills gaps in the local economy; and it is seeking accredited training providers to offer the courses specified to 570 East Sussex residents in total, over a period of one year from April 2025 to March 2026.

The Director approved a series of contracts to be issued to local providers for the delivery of the Skills Bootcamps programme in the value of £2,358,250.00.
