Redressing roads with loose chippings is a danger to road users, especially those on motorcycles, and needs to stop

We the undersigned petition the council to examine the use of alternative methods to keep road surfaces clean and clear of loose chippings. Not only do these have the potential to cause stone chip damage to vehicles, but they pose an even greater risk to those on Motorcycles. At present, resurfacing works are being carried out across the county where a new layer of Bitumen is poured and loose stone chippings are then laid over the top of the bitumen. The chippings are left down to be pushed into the freshly laid layer of bitumen by passing traffic.

This creates a major hazard for motorcyclists in particular, as the loose stone chippings often pile up in sections of the road, which can cause instability issues for those riding motorcycles on affected roads.
Whilst we understand the need to maintain the road surfaces, are the no other options for carrying out the maintenance that don't pose a risk to life for road users?
