Purpose:

Approval of a lease for business space accommodation to meet the operational requirements of the Communities, Economy and Transport Department.
The decision required is to agree that the Council will take a commercial lease and to delegate authority to the Chief Operating Officer to sign the final lease agreements.

56.1     The Lead Member considered a report by the Chief Operating Officer, together with exempt information contained in a later agenda item.

 

DECISIONS

 

56.2     The Lead Member RESOLVED to (1) Delegate authority to the Chief Operating Officer to serve the relevant notices to end the lease at Unit D, Ropemaker Park, Hailsham;

 

(2)        Delegate authority to the Chief Operating Officer to agree the terms of the lease for new premises in Hampden Park and to enter into such agreements as may be necessary to secure the lease of the Hampden Park premises; and

 

(3)        Delegate authority to the Chief Operating Officer to take all actions necessary to give effect to the recommendations set out in the report.

 

Reasons

 

56.3     The premises at Ropemaker Park are larger than the Council’s future requirements for the Library and Information Service and Records Management Service.  The lease of the current building is due to expire in September 2022.
