Purpose:

To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out carriageway patching works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Decision:

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via A271 New Road - A271 Amberstone – A271 Hawkswood Road – A271 Upper Horsebridge – A271 Lower Horsebridge – A22 Bishop Roundabout – A22 Hailsham Bypass – A27 Polegate Bypass – A27 Pevensey Bypass – A259 Barnhorn Road – A259 Little Common Road – A269 London Road – A269 Ninfield Road – A269 Bexhill Road – A269 The Green – A269 High Street - A269 Standard Hill – A269 Boreham Hill – A271 Boreham Hill – A271 Boreham Street – A271 Windmill Hill Road – A271 Gardener Street – A271 Hailsham Road and vice versa.

The Order commences 11 November 2019 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 11 & 15 November 2019 depending upon the weather conditions.

Temporary Road Closure - from 19:00 hours to 06:00 hours
Hailsham Road - from its junction with U7742 Fiennes Road to its junction with C344 West End
