To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out
works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections
14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as
amended, which will temporarily close the following length of
road;
Temporary Road Closure
Gardner Street / Windmill Hill Road / The Strait - from its
junction with C344 West End to its junction with U7112 Wood
Lane
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access
for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with
an alternative route for through traffic via A271 The Strait /
Boreham Hill / Kitchenham Road / Beechdown Wood - B2096 Kane Hythe
Road / Darwell Hill / Battle Road / Carricks Hill / Earls Down /
Battle Road / Cade Street / Battle Road - A265 Burwash Road - B2203
Tower Street / Hailsham Road / Maynards Green / High Street –
A267 New North Street - A271 Lower Horsebridge / Upper Horsebridge
/ Hawkswood Road / Amberstone / New Road / Hailsham Road and vice
versa.
The Order commences 14 July 2022 and lasts for a period of 18
months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier.
However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken from 19:00hrs
to 06:00hrs between 14 July & 18 August 2022 depending upon the
weather conditions.
