To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out
works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections
14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as
amended, which will temporarily close the following lengths of road
in phases;
Temporary Road Closures
South Road - from the junction with B2104 Ersham Road to the
junction with B2104 Western Road
Diversion via A295 South Road - A22 Hailsham bypass - Boship
roundabout - A271 Lower Horsebridge - Upper Horsebridge - Hawkswood
Road - A295 Battle Road -A295 High Street - North Street and vice
versa.
Western Road - from the junction with A295 South Road to the
junction with U7065 Downsview Way
Diversion via B2104 Western Road - Summerheath Road - B2022 London
Road – A295 High Street - North Street or George
Street.
George Street;
Restrictions will be in place one lane at a time with access to
North Street when left-hand lane is closed and access to Station
Road when right-hand lane is closed.
Phase A - from the junction with U7215 Victoria Road to the
junction with C411 Station Road
Diversion via A295 South Road - A22 Hailsham bypass - Boship
roundabout -A271 Lower Horsebridge - Upper Horsebridge - Hawkswood
Road - A295 Battle Road - A295 High Street.
Phase B - from the junction with C411 Station Road to the junction
with B2104 Western Road
Diversion via A295 South Road - A22 Hailsham bypass - Boship
roundabout -A271 Lower Horsebridge - Upper Horsebridge - Hawkswood
Road - A295 Battle Road - A295 High Street and vice versa.
North Street - from the junction with A295 George Street to A295
North Street Tesco roundabout
Diversion via A295 High Street - George Street - South Road - A22
Hailsham bypass - Boship roundabout - A271 Lower Horsebridge -
Upper Horsebridge -Hawkswood Road - A295 Battle Road - A295 High
Street.
Station Road - from the junction with A295 George Street to the
junction with U7215 Garfield Road
Diversion via C411 Station Road - Downash Road - Saltmarsh Lane -
B2104 Ersham Road - A295 South Road - A295 George Street and vice
versa.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access
for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible.
The Order commences 11 April 2023 and lasts for a period of 18
months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier.
However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken in phases from
19:00hrs to 06:00hrs between 11 & 20 April 2023 depending upon
the weather conditions.
