Decision details

To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following lengths of road;

Temporary Road Closures
Ditchling Road / Lewes Road / West Street / Keymer Road - from the junction with A275 The Street to the junction with B2116 Keymer Road (WSX)
Restriction is anticipated to be in place from 19:00hrs to 06:00hrs between 1 June & 21 July 2023
Diversion via B2112 High Street – B2112 Common Lane - B2112 Ditchling Road – C6 Green Road – C6 South Road - C323 Honeypot Lane - C323 Mill Lane – A275 South Road – A275 Resting Oak Hill – A275 Cooksbridge Road - B2116 Ditchling Road and vice versa.

High Street / North End / Common Lane - from the junction with B2116 Lewes Road to the junction with B2213 Folders Lane
Restriction is anticipated to be in place between 5 June & 31 July 2023
Diversion via B2112 Ditchling Road – C6 Green Road – C6 South Road - C323 Honeypot Lane - C323 Mill Lane – A275 South Road – A275 Resting Oak Hill – A275 Cooksbridge Road - B2116 Ditchling Road – B2116 Lewes Road and vice versa.

Claremont Road / Station Approach - from the junction with U5479 Claremont Road to the junction with C30 Church Street
Restriction is anticipated to be in place from 19:00hrs to 06:00hrs between 28 June & 21 July 2023
Diversion via A259 Clinton Place - A259 Sutton Park Road - A259 Sutton Road – A259 Eastbourne Road - A259 East Dean Road – A259 Seaford Road - A259 Friston Hill – A259 Eastbourne Road – A259 East Dean Road – A259 Church Street – A259 The Goffs - A2270 Upperton Road – A2270 Willingdon Road – A2270 Eastbourne Road – A27(T) - A26(T) – A26 New Road – A29 Drove Road – A259 The Drove – A259 Seaford Road – A259 Newhaven Road – A259 Buckle bypass.

Hill Rise - from the junction with U5486 Princess Drive to the junction with A259 Buckle bypass
Restriction is anticipated to be in place between 3 July & 21 July 2023
Diversion via A259 Buckle bypass – U5495 Beacon Road – U5494 Carlton Road – U5496 Beacon Drive and vice versa.

Princess Drive - from the junction with U5494 Carlton Road to the junction with A259 Buckle bypass
Restriction is anticipated to be in place between 3 July & 21 July 2023
Diversion via A259 Buckle bypass – U5495 Beacon Road – U5494 Carlton Road – U5496 Beacon Drive and vice versa.

Carlton Road - from the junction with U5496 Beacon Drive to the junction with U5486 Princess Drive
Restriction is anticipated to be in place between 4 July & 21 July 2023
Diversion via U5486 Princess Drive – U5496 Beacon Drive and vice versa.

Hartfield Road - from the junction with U5447 Southdown Road to the junction with A259 Eastbourne Road
Restriction is anticipated to be in place between 18 October & 1 November 2023
Diversion via A259 Eastbourne Road – A259 Sutton Road - U5447 Southdown Road and vice versa.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible.

The Order commences 1 June 2023 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken as detailed above depending upon the weather conditions.
