To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out
works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections
14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as
amended, which will temporarily close the following lengths of
road;
Temporary Road Closures
Catts Green / Whorne Woods / Tank Hill / Chitcombe Road - from the
junction with B2165 Cripps Corner Road to the junction with A28
Oakhill Drive
Restriction is anticipated to be in place between 1 June & 14
July 2023
Diversion via B2165 Staplecross Road, Cripps Corner Road, Northiam
Road, Horns Cross - A28 Northiam Road and vice versa.
Madeira Drive - from the junction with U3040 King Edward Avenue to
the junction with U3040 Normandy Road
Restriction is anticipated to be in place between 1 June & 14
July 2023
Diversion via U3040 King Edward Avenue, Normandy Road and vice
versa.
Darwell Hill / Kane Hythe Road - from the junction with C412
Penshurst Lane to the junction with A271 Beechwood Road
Restriction is anticipated to be in place between 1 June & 30
July 2023
Diversion via A271 Beechwood Road, Kitchenham Road, Boreham Hill,
Boreham Street, The Strait, Windmill Hill Road, Gardner Street,
Hailsham Road, New Road, Amberstone, Hawkswood Road, Upper
Horsebridge, Lower Horsebridge - A22 Boship roundabout - A267 New
North Street, North Street, Eastbourne Road, Horam Road, High
Street, Little London Road - A265 Cross In Hand Road, High Street,
Mutton Hall Hill, Burwash Road - B2096 Battle Road, Cade Street,
Battle Road, Earls Down, Carricks Hill, Battle Road, Darwell Hill
and vice versa.
Northiam Road - from the junction with B2165 Horns Cross to the
junction with B2089 Udimore Road
Restriction is anticipated to be in place between 1 June & 21
July 2023
Diversion via B2165 Horns Cross, Northiam Road, Cripps Corner Road
- B2089 Catts Green, Whorne Woods, Tank Hill, Chitcombe Road and
vice versa.
Harley Shute Road - from the junction with A259 Bexhill Road to the
junction with B2092 Crowhurst Road
Restriction is anticipated to be in place between 19 June & 21
July 2023
Diversion via B2092 Crowhurst Road – A2690 Queensway –
A2100 The Ridge West – B2159 Battle Road – A21 London
Road – A2102 London Road – A259 Grand Parade, Marina,
Grosvenor Crescent and vice versa.
A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access
for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible.
The Order commences 1 June 2023 and lasts for a period of 18
months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier.
However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken as detailed
above depending upon the weather conditions.
