Purpose:

To allow Network Rail to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Decision:

Temporary Road Closure
High Street - from the junction with C213 Church Lane to the junction with U6196 Burgh Hill

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via A265 Straight Mile, High Street, Etchingham Road, Heathfield Road, Burwash Road, High Street, Cross in Hand Road – A267 Little London Road, High Street, Horam Road, North Street, New North Street, A271 Lower Horsebridge, Upper Horsebridge, Hawkswood Road, Amberstone, New Road, Hailsham Road, Gardner Street, Windmill Hill Road, Boreham Hill, Kitchenham Road, Beechdown Wood, North Trade Road – A2100 London Road – A21 (T) and vice versa.

The Order commences 11 July 2023 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken from 23:30hrs to 05:30hrs between 11 & 14 July 2023 depending upon the weather conditions.
