Health checks will still be delivered. The
change is to the balance of how they are delivered between
different services. This will reduce the overall number of Health
Checks but will ensure those with the greatest needs are targeted
first and all can self-refer.
The current £300,000 budget available to
GP practices to provide NHS Health Check appointments will be
reduced by half to £150,000, and that all Health Checks
delivery by pharmacy, sub-contracted by One You East Sussex (OYES),
total £10,000, will be ceased, along with £3,000 of
back-office efficiencies.
To achieve the required savings, a process was
undertaken to examine the budgets across the whole of Public
Health. A large number of options were proposed and this option was
selected to minimise the impact on public health
outcomes.
