Decision details

To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure
Old London Road - from the junction with U3208 High Street to the junction with C551 Priory Road.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic northbound via A259 Old London Road, The Bourne, East Beach Street, East Parade, Marine Parade, Sturdee Place, Pelham Place, Breeds Place, Fountain roundabout, Denmark Place, Carlisle Parade, White Rock, Verulam Place, Eversfield Place, Grand Parade - A2102 London Road - A21 London Road - B2159 Battle Road - A2100 Beauport Park roundabout, The Ridge West, The Ridge - B2093 The Ridge, Conquest roundabout, The Ridge, Old London Road - A259 Old London Road and southbound via A259 Old London Road - B2093 Old London Road, The Ridge, Conquest roundabout, The Ridge - A2100 The Ridge West, Beauport Park roundabout - B2159 Battle Road - A21 London Road - A2102 London Road, Norman Road - U3160 Warrior Square - A259 Eversfield Place, Verulam Place, White Rock, Carlisle Parade, Denmark Place, Fountain roundabout, Breeds Place, Pelham Place, Sturdee Place, Marine Parade, East Parade, East Beach Street, The Bourne, Old London Road.

The Order commenced 27 May 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 2 & 3 July 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.
