Decision details

To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Temporary Road Closure
Brede Hill / Brede Road - from the junction with A28 Cackle Street to the junction with A28 Main Road.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic southbound via A28 Cackle Street - B2089 Udimore Road, Ferry Road - A268 Station Approach, Cinque Ports Street, Wish Street - A259(T) Wish Street roundabout, Winchelsea Road, New Winchelsea Road, Royal Military Road, Tanyard Lane, Ferry Hill, Rectory Lane, Hastings Road, Main Road, The Thorne, Rye Road, Winchelsea Road, White Hart Hill, Winchelsea Road - A259 Rye Road - B2093 Old London Road, The Ridge, Conquest roundabout, The Ridge - A2100 The Ridge, The Ridge West - A2690 Queensway - Whitworth Road - A21(T) Sedlescombe Road North - A28 Westfield Lane, Church Lane, Main Road & northbound via A28 Main Road, Church Lane, Westfield Lane - A21(T) Sedlescombe Road North - Whitworth Road - A2690 Queensway - A2100 The Ridge West, The Ridge - B2093 The Ridge, Conquest roundabout, The Ridge, Old London Road - A259 Rye Road - A259(T) Winchelsea Road, White Hart Hill, Winchelsea Road, Rye Road, The Thorne, Main Road, Hastings Road, Rectory Lane, Ferry Hill, Tanyard Lane, Royal Military Road, New Winchelsea Road, Winchelsea Road, Wish Street roundabout - A268 Wish Street, Ferry Road - B2089 Ferry Road, Udimore Road - A28 Cackle Street.

The Order commences 12 January 2026 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 12 & 31 January 2026 depending upon the weather conditions.
