Purpose:

The Department for Work and Pensions is inviting East Sussex County Council to oversee an additional allocation of Adult Skills Fund (ASF) to commission training in the academic year 2026/27. The Lead Member for Economy will consider approval to delegate authority to the Director of Communities, Economy and Transport to take any actions necessary in relation to the implementation of the additional ASF funds.

10.1     The Lead Member considered a report by the Director of Communities, Economy and Transport.

 

DECISIONS

 

10.2     The Lead Member RESOLVED to:

 

1) Accept the additional Adult Skills Fund allocation; and

 

2) Delegate authority to the Director of Communities, Economy and Transport to take any actions necessary in relation to the implementation of the additional Adult Skills Fund in line with existing responsibilities for Adult Skills Fund (Skills Bootcamps and Adult Community Learning).

 

REASONS

 

10.3     The indicative allocation of £940,000 Adult Skills Fund presents a significant opportunity to support residents to upskill, and address labour-market gaps highlighted in the Get Sussex Working Plan, Local Skills Improvement Plan and the East Sussex Prosperity Strategy.

 

10.4     Delegation of authority to the Director of Communities, Economy and Transport to take any actions necessary in relation to the implementation of the Adult Skills Funding, and in line with existing delegations relating to Skills Bootcamps and Adult Community Learning, will ensure the programme is implemented efficiently.
