Purpose:

To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out carriageway surfacing and lining works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following lengths of road;

Decision:

The Order commences 28 August 2018 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until the works are completed, whichever is the earlier. However, it is anticipated the works will be undertaken between 28 August 2018 and 21 September 2018 depending upon the weather conditions.

Alternative options considered:

Temporary Road Closure - from 20:00 hours to 06:00 hours
A265 Paygate / High Street / Etchingham Road - from U6199 Batemans Lane, Burwash to the junction with U6197 Borders Lane, Etchingham, a distance of 1325 metres

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic signed and maintained for the duration of the works via A265 – B2096 Battle Road – A271 North Trade Road – A2100 London Road – A21 Johns Cross Roundabout(T) –A21 Robertsbridge Bypass(T) – A21 London Road(T) – A265 Station Road and vice versa.
