Purpose:

To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out pavement reconstruction, inlay resurfacing and lining works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Decision:

The Order commences 1 September 2018 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until the works are completed, whichever is the earlier. However, it is anticipated the works will be undertaken between 1 September 2018 and 3 October 2018 depending upon the weather conditions.

Alternative options considered:

Temporary Road Closure – from 20:00 hours to 06:00 hours
A22 London Road - from the junction with C250 Wall Hill Road to the junction with C2 Colemans Hatch Road (works are a distance of 5000 metres).

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic signed and maintained for the duration of the works as follows;
HGVs via A22 Lewes Road – Chelwood Gate Road – High Street – Maresfield Bypass – A26 Uckfield Bypass – Beacon Road – Eridge Road – C70 Bunny Lane – A267 Frant Road – A267 Frant Road, Kent – A26 Eridge Road – Major York Road – A264 Langton Road – Ashurst Road – B2110 Groombridge Hill – Withyham Road – B2026 Edenbridge Road – A264 Holtye Road – B2110 – A22 Lewes Road and vice versa;
All Other Traffic via A22 Lewes Road – B2110 Blackwell Hollow – College Lane – A264 Holtye Road – B2026 Edenbridge Road – B2110 Shepherds Hill – C2 Colemans Hatch Road and vice versa.
