Purpose:

To allow Network Rail to carry out an examination of the railway bridge, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;

Decision:

Temporary Road Closure
High Street - from the junction with C213 Church Lane to the junction with U6196 Burgh Hill

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via A265 Haremere Hill - Station Road – A21 London Road (T) - Silverhill (T) - Johns Cross Road (T) – A2100 London Road – A271 North trade Road - Kitchenham Road - Boreham Hill - Windmill Hill Road - Hailsham Road - New Road, Amberstone - Hawkswood Road, Upper Horsebridge, Lower Horsebridge – A267 New North Street - North Street - Eastbourne Road - Horam Road - Little London Road – A265 Cross In Hand Road - Mutton Hall Hill - Burwash Road - Slutts Well - Heathfield Road - High Street - Straight Mile and vice versa

The Order commences 5 December 2021 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken on 5 December 2021 depending upon the weather conditions.
