Decision details

To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following lengths of road;

Temporary Road Closures
Whitbread Lane / Peasmarsh Road - from the junction with A28 Station Road to the junction with C91 Mackerel Hill.
Diversion eastbound via A28 Station Road, Main Street, Hastings Road, Perrymans Cross, Wells House Hill, Northiam Road - B2088 Udimore Road - A268 Station Approach, Wish Street - A259 Strand Quay, South Undercliff, Fishmarket Road - A268 Fishmarket Road, Rye Hill, Rye Road, Main Street & westbound via A268 Main Street, Rye Road, Rye Hill, Fishmarket Road - A259 Fishmarket Road, South Undercliff, Strand Quay - A268 Wish Street, Ferry Road - B2088 Udimore Road - A28 Northiam Road, Wells House Hill, Perrymans Cross, Hastings Road, Main Street, Station Road.

Main Street - from the junction with A28 Hastings Road / Well House Hill to the junction with A268 Peasmarsh Road
Diversion eastbound via A28 Northiam Road - B2088 Udimore Road - A268 Station Approach, Wish Street - A259 Strand Quay, South Undercliff, Fishmarket Road - A268 Fishmarket Road, Rye Hill, Rye Road, Main Street & westbound via A268 Main Street, Rye Road, Rye Hill, Fishmarket Road - A259 Fishmarket Road, South Undercliff, Strand Quay - A268 Wish Street, Ferry Road - B2088 Udimore Road.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible.

The Order commences 23 October 2023 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 23 October & 3 November 2023 depending upon the weather conditions.
