Decision details

The decision was required to confirm award of the contract to a building contractor following the completion of a thorough design, and procurement process. The decision will allow the contractor to complete the refurbishment of the The Joff Youth Hub in Peacehaven. Planning permission has also been granted and funding secured.

The Chief Officer approved the appointment of the main contractor under a Joint Contracts Tribunal (JCT) traditional form of contract for The Joff Youth Centre in Peacehaven.

The contractor has been selected through the East Sussex County Council (ESCC) procurement process achieving best value for money for ESCC to enable the project to complete by March 2025.

This project is externally funded and there is a strict requirement for works to be completed by the end of March 2025. The current programme is in line with this requirement.

This is an externally funded project. The only alternative option was to not proceed with the capital project, but this is not an attractive or viable option given that the funding has been secured and local stakeholders are expecting a refurbished youth hub to be delivered by March 2025.
