Decision not to reprocure the contract for provision of dental checks and treatment for clients experiencing homelessness and substance misuse

Decision Maker: Director of Adult Social Care and Health

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: Yes

Is subject to call in?: Yes

Purpose:

The current contract with Dentaid is due to end in March 2025. This service was part funded by Public Health (£18,000) and part by external funding from the Office for Health Improvement and Disparities via substance misuse funds (£18,000). The external funding is not available for 2025/26.

Decision:

To not reprocure a contract for provision of dental checks and treatment for clients experiencing homelessness and substance misuse, through monthly mobile clinics in Eastbourne and Hastings.

Alternative options considered:

To achieve the required savings, a process was undertaken to examine the budgets across the whole of Public Health. A large number of options were proposed and this option was selected to minimise the impact on public health outcomes.
