Purpose:

To allow Network Rail to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following length of road;


Decision:

Temporary Road Closure
High Street - from the junction with U6196 Burgh Hill to the junction with U6197 Borders Lane.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via A265 Straight Mile, Etchingham Road, High Street, Paygate, Heathfield Road, Burwash Road, Mutton Hall Hill, High Street, Cross in Hand Road – A267 Little London Road, High Street, Horam Road, Eastbourne Road, North Street, New North Street – A271 Lower Horsebridge, Upper Horsebridge, Hawkswood Road, Amberstone, New Road, Hailsham Road, Gardener Street, Windmill Hill Road, The Strait, Boreham Hill, Kitchenham Road, Beechdown Wood, North Trade Road - A2100 London Road – A21(T) – A265 Station Road, Haremere Hill and vice versa.

The Order commences 31 October 2025 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 31 October & 3 November 2025 depending upon the weather conditions.
