Decision details

To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following lengths of road;

Temporary Road Closures
Lewes Road - from the junction with A22 London Road to the junction with A22 Wych Cross.
Diversion via A22 London Road - A22 (WSCC) – A264 Moat Road (WSCC), Blackwell Road (WSCC), Holtye Road, Colestock Road, East Grinstead Road – A264 (KCC) – A26 (KCC) – A267 Frant Road – C70 Bunny Lane – A26 Eridge Road, Beacon Road, Uckfield Road, Five Ash Down, Uckfield bypass – A22 Maresfield bypass, Horney Common, High Street, Mill Brook Hill, Wych Cross and vice versa.
Restriction is anticipated to be in place from 20:00hrs to 06:00hrs between 6 & 18 July 2026.

Walshes Road - from the junction with C11 Fermor Road to the junction with C11 Western Road.
Diversion via C11 Fermor Road, Whitehill Road, Croft Road – C252 Church Road - B2100 Crowborough Hill – C11 Western Road and vice versa & HGV diversion via C11 Fermor Road - C254 Hurtis Hill, Sheep Plain - A26 Beacon Road, Eridge Road – C70 Bunny Lane – A267 Frant Road, Frant Green Road, Mayfield Road, Tunbridge Wells Road, Argos Hill – B2101 Bicycle Arms Road, Mayfield Road – B2100 Church Road, Rotherfield Road – C11 Western Road, Walshes Road and vice versa.
Restriction is anticipated to be in place between 15 & 27 June 2026.

Eridge Road - from the junction with A26 Beacon Road to the county border.
Diversion via C70 Bunny Lane – A267 Frant Road, Frant Green Road, Mayfield Road, Tunbridge Wells Road, Argos Hill – B2101 Bicycle Arms Road, High Cross, Mayfield Road, South Street – B2100 High Street, Church Road, Rotherfield Road – C11 Western Road, Walshes Road, Fermor Road – C254 Hurtis Hill, Sheep Plain – A26 Beacon Road and vice versa.
Restriction is anticipated to be in place from 20:00hrs to 06:00hrs between 6 & 11 April 2026 and 6 & 18 July 2026.

Holtye Road / Holtye Common / Colestock Road / East Grinstead Road / Watch Oak Hill - from the West Sussex county border to the Kent county border
Diversion via A264 Ashurst Road (KCC), Langton Road (KCC), Bishops Down (KCC) – A26 Mount Ephram (KCC), London Road (KCC) – A267 Frant Road (KCC) - A267 Frant Road – C70 Bunny Lane – A26 Eridge Road, Beacon Road, Uckfield Road, Five Ash Down, Uckfield bypass – A22 Maresfield bypass, Horney Common Road, Courtlands Road, High Street, Millbrook Hill, Wych Cross, Lewes Road, London Road, Lewes Road – A22 Beeching Way (WSCC), Station Road (WSCC), London Road (WSCC) – A264 Moat Road (WSCC), Cranston Road (WSCC), Blackwell Road (WSCC) – A264 Holtye Road (WSCC) and vice versa.
Restriction is anticipated to be in place from 20:00hrs to 06:00hrs between 7 & 19 September 2026.

Wych Cross / Millbrook Hill - from the junction with C2 Hindleap Lane to the junction with A22 High Street.
Diversion via A22 Lewes Road, London Road - A22 (WSCC) – A264 Moat Road (WSCC), Blackwell Road (WSCC) – A264 Holtye Road, Colestock Road, East Grinstead Road – A264 (KCC) – A26 (KCC) – A267 Frant Road – C70 Bunny Lane – A26 Eridge Road, Beacon Road, Uckfield Road, Five Ash Down – A26 Uckfield bypass – A22 Maresfield bypass, Horney Common, High Street and vice versa.
Restriction is anticipated to be in place from 20:00hrs to 06:00hrs between 27 July & 8 August 2026.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible.

The Order commences 6 April 2026 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken as detailed above depending upon the weather conditions.
