The Isabel Blackman Centre provides year-round adult social care facilities for adults over 50 suffering from the complex effects of dementia; stroke; learning disabilities and other long-term conditions. It offers a safe haven for engagement and interaction with others which enriches the quality of life of those being supported. It also provides crucial respite for their families and carers.
The decision by ESCC to support these inhumane Tory cuts comes after an inadequate “consultation”. Despite a covenant requiring the Isabel Blackman Centre to provide services for elderly and vulnerable people ESCC have singularly failed to provide any detailed plan for the future of this vital service beyond scrapping it.
Therefore, Hastings residents have no faith that the assurance made by ESCC that they will find “like for like alternative provision” is anything more than prevarication.
