Notice under The Local Authorities (Executive Arrangements) (Meetings and Access to Information) (England) Regulations 2012
On the 16 August 2021 the County Council intends to hold a meeting of the Lead Member for Adult Social Care at which the following item will be considered: Proposal to extend the existing telecare contract with the current provider to 31 August 2023
The purpose of the item is: The existing contract with Welbeing, who provide telecare services on behalf of East Sussex County Council allows for a two-year extension up to 31 August 2023. Lead Member approval is sought to utilise the full duration of this extension to allow time for a full review of the telecare offer in East Sussex and explore the opportunities that have arisen from recent technological advances.
Under the requirements of Regulation 9 of The Local Authorities (Executive Arrangements) (Meetings and Access to Information) (England) Regulations 2012 the Council is required to give 28 days notice of a key decision identified within the scope of these regulations. It is considered that item referred to above would be a key decision and for the reasons of urgency outlined below, compliance is considered impracticable, and an exception to Regulation 9 is therefore sought under Regulation 10 of the above Regulations. It is considered impracticable to comply with the requirements of The Local Authorities (Executive Arrangements) (Meetings and Access to Information) (England) Regulations 2012 because:
Delaying the decision until the publication of the next forward plan and scheduled meeting of the Lead Member for Adult Social Care and Health would not allow the timely and smooth implementation of extended Telecare provision within East Sussex and a decision is therefore required no later than 16th August 2021.
Accordingly a copy of this notice shall be available pursuant to Regulation 5(6) for at least 5 clear days prior to 16 August 2021.
