07/02/2023 - The East Sussex (A295 North Street / George Street / South Road / C411 Station Road / B2104 Western Road, Hailsham)(Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2023 ref: 1886    Recommendations Approved

To allow East Sussex Highways to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following lengths of road in phases;

South Road - from the junction with B2104 Ersham Road to the junction with B2104 Western Road
Diversion via A295 South Road - A22 Hailsham bypass - Boship roundabout - A271 Lower Horsebridge - Upper Horsebridge - Hawkswood Road - A295 Battle Road -A295 High Street - North Street and vice versa.

Western Road - from the junction with A295 South Road to the junction with U7065 Downsview Way
Diversion via B2104 Western Road - Summerheath Road - B2022 London Road – A295 High Street - North Street or George Street.

George Street;
Restrictions will be in place one lane at a time with access to North Street when left-hand lane is closed and access to Station Road when right-hand lane is closed.

Station Road - from the junction with A295 George Street to the junction with U7215 Garfield Road
Diversion via C411 Station Road - Downash Road - Saltmarsh Lane - B2104 Ersham Road - A295 South Road - A295 George Street and vice versa.

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible.

The Order commences 11 April 2023 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken in phases from 19:00hrs to 06:00hrs between 11 & 20 April 2023 depending upon the weather conditions.

24/02/2023 - The East Sussex (B2165 Beckley Road - The Stream - Clayhill, Beckley, B2088 Northiam Road, Beckley, B2088 Rye Road & U6630 New Road, Northiam) (Temporary Prohibition of Traffic) Order 2023 ref: 1854    Recommendations Approved

To allow South East Water to carry out works, East Sussex County Council have made an Order under Sections 14(1) and 15(1)(b) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended, which will temporarily close the following lengths of road;

A safe route will be provided for pedestrians and vehicular access for residents and to properties maintained whenever possible with an alternative route for through traffic via B2165 Beckley Road - A28 Well House Hill - Perryman Cross - Hastings Road - Main Street - Station Road - A268 Whitebread Lane - B2088 Main Street - Northiam Road and vice versa.

The Order commences 27 February 2023 and lasts for a period of 18 months, or until works are completed, whichever is earlier. However, it is anticipated works will be undertaken between 27 February & 31 March 2023 depending upon the weather conditions.

14/02/2023 - Armed Forces Covenant ref: 1852    Recommendations Approved

To discuss and agree to the pledges outlined by the ‘East Sussex County Council Armed Forces Covenant’ document.

The Lead Member will sign the Armed Forces Covenant as the Armed Forces Champion and Lead Member for Children and Families.

9.1       The Lead Member considered a report by the Director of Childrens’s Services regarding the Armed Forces Covenant.

9.2       The Lead Member RESOLVED to:

 

1)  note the change to the current Armed Forces Covenant for East Sussex County Council;

2) agree to the pledges outlined by the East Sussex County Council Armed Forces Covenant document; and

3) sign the updated Armed Forces Covenant

 

Reasons

 

9.3       In order to continue demonstrating support to the Armed Forces Community, and to aim for Gold Accreditation on the Employers Recognition Scheme in 2023, East Sussex County Council will need to re-submit a bespoke Armed Forces Covenant by 1 March 2023.

13/02/2023 - Memorandum of Understanding between East Sussex County Council and South Downs National Park Authority - potential improvements to local transport infrastructure in and around the Seven Sisters Country Park and Exceat Bridge ref: 1851    Recommendations Approved

Approval and delegated authority to Director of Communities, Economy and Transport to sign the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) drawn up with the South Downs National Park Authority. The MOU provides a record of how the two parties will work in collaboration on projects in and around the Seven Sisters Country Park.

59.1     The Lead Member considered a report by the Director of Communities, Economy and Transport.

 

DECISIONS

 

59.2     The Lead Member RESOLVED to:

 

1) approve that the County Council enters a Memorandum of Understanding with the South Downs National Park Authority; and

 

2) delegate authority to the Director of Communities, Economy and Transport to negotiate and agree the terms of the Memorandum of Understanding.

 

REASONS

 

59.3     During discussions on the Exceat Bridge replacement scheme the National Park Authority identified a number of additional local transport improvements around the Bridge and Seven Sisters Country Park area which were not included in the scope of the bridge replacement project.

 

59.4     Therefore both parties agreed in principle, subject to approval, they would enter into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) setting out how they intend to work together to attempt to bring forward these additional transport improvements. These schemes will be subject to the availability of funding and developed within 7 years of entering into the MoU.
