I will continue to campaign for more support for our schools and particularly for children with special educational needs.
We must continue to maintain the floodplain to maintain the environment in Eastbourne, and protect the Area of Special Scientific Interest on its border.
In the longer term, we need to bring better employment opportunities to Eastbourne.
More about me
I was elected councillor for Priory, which encompasses Langney in Eastbourne, in 1981 and I am in my ninth term as a county councillor and sixth term as a borough councillor. I am also Leader of the Liberal Democrat group.
Schools and special needs schools in my division need greater support and we need to reduce crime rate and improve road safety.
But how did I get here?
I was born and raised here. When I was studying politics in college, I looked at the philosophies of all the political parties and learned that I shared the views of the Liberals.
Because I wanted to contribute to my community, standing for council seemed a logical step.
The people who live in my division are what make it so special and it is very rewarding to be able to resolve issues that improve quality of life for them.
My division has a lot of elderly people who wish to continue living in their own homes and need more support to do this. I am particularly proud to have helped introduce Eastbourne Lifeline, an emergency alarm call system I had campaigned for.
I am also very pleased to have seen the opening of the Langney Library after a 16-year campaign.
My spare time
One of my interests is special educational needs and I am a governor of Hazel Court School, which is a school for children with learning difficulties.
